When nature adds something of itself to the objects that people make, we usually don't like it very much, we try to get rid of that thing - rust, mold, etc. But once we start looking at them closely, the feeling of discontent gives way to admiration. Handmade smooth and geometric forms surrounded by organic patterns of nature. The coexistence of the two sometimes resembles a competition or a dance routine imitating each other, and sometimes a conflict in which they try to outdo each other.

This project started as the story of boats and the sea creatures that try to make them home. It was an obligation born of admiration to photograph the elegant patterns created by these creatures, which settled on the hulls and metal parts of the boats, harmonizing with the colors and surrounding the parts of the boats like lace.

But the mollusks, who entered the frame for the first time a while ago, made me realize that the withdrawal of their boats to the land means mass extinction for the ecosystem formed on the hull.

Since then, every layer of paint that appears on the boats represents an extinct generation, and every pattern represents the creature that lived there that year. Therefore, this project is no longer just a story, it has turned into a lament for the lost creatures of this boat-world that has been destroyed and rebuilt over and over again.

Doğa, insanların yaptığı nesnelerin üzerine kendinden bir şeyler eklediğinde genellikle bundan çok hoşlanmaz ve o şeyden  -her neyse artık; pas, küf vs-  kurtulmaya çalışırız. Ama onlara yakından bakmaya başladığımızda hoşnutsuzluk duygusu yerini hayranlığa bırakır.  İnsan eliyle yapılmış düzgün,  geometrik formlar doğanın organik örüntüleri ile sarmalanmıştır. İkisinin birlikteliği zaman zaman rekabet veya taklit ile yaptıkları bir dansı, bazen de birbirlerinden üstün gelmeye çalıştıkları bir çatışmayı andırır.

Bu proje, tekneler ve onları yuva edinmeye çalışan deniz canlılarının öyküsü olarak başladı. Teknelerin gövdesi ve metal aksamı üzerine yerleşen bu canlıların oluşturduğu zarif desenlerin renklerle uyumlarını ve teknelerin aksamlarını dantel gibi kuşatmalarını fotoğraflamak hayranlıktan doğan bir mecburiyetti.

Fakat bir süre önce kadraja ilk kez giren yumuşakçalar, teknelerin karaya çekilmesinin,  gövdesinde oluşan ekosistem için toplu yok oluş anlamına geldiğini fark ettirdi.  

O günden beridir, teknelerin üzerinde görünen her boya katmanı yok olmuş bir nesli, her desen de o yıl orada yaşamış canlıyı temsil eder oldu ve bu proje artık sadece bir öykü değil, defalarca yok olup, sil baştan kurulmuş bu tekne-dünyanın yitik canlılarına ağıta dönüştü.
